Based on the primary medical documentation provided by the patient, an individual treatment program in Germany is developed for them. According to § 17 KHG (German Hospital Law) – prices for medical services must be the same for all patients, including foreign patients. The DRG reference book contains all the necessary information: from the cost of the simplest medical services to innovative treatment methods and high-tech operations. The actual treatment cost consists of the base price according to DRG tables multiplied by a coefficient (the coefficient value is affected by the patient's age, diagnosis, comorbidities, first or repeat surgery, clinic status, etc.), plus doctors' fees (as a rule, foreign patients are treated by chief physicians or leading specialists).

Medical services in Germany are not subject to value added tax (VAT). The only exception is the services of plastic surgeons. Nevertheless, you have the right to get a VAT (MwSt) refund for goods purchased at pharmacies and medical equipment stores.
