Kidney Cancer Treatment

A malignant kidney tumor is a fairly rare but very severe form of cancer characterized by a prolonged asymptomatic course. This disease occurs as a result of pathological cell degeneration, which is facilitated by a number of predisposing factors. One of the characteristic features of this type of cancer is rapid metastasis to regional lymph nodes and other organs. Among the answers to the question of where to receive effective kidney cancer treatment, Germany occupies one of the leading places. It is one of the few countries where scientific research work in this field has been actively conducted for a long time.

Etiology of the Phenomenon

The reasons for the tumor formation are still not exactly known to scientists. But world scientists agree that the oncological process develops due to certain provoking factors. For example, physiological damage — injuries in the kidney or lumbar region, negative influence of chemicals on the body as a whole and specifically on the urinary system. The kidneys are a significant part of the urinary system, metabolic products and toxins pass through them. Thus, under the influence of certain substances, an oncological process can develop.

Hereditary predisposition occupies an important place among predisposing factors — the probability of developing cancer increases in those people whose family history has had similar diseases. The disease also develops against the background of chronic diseases of the genitourinary system or under the influence of ionizing radiation on the lumbar or abdominal cavity. In addition, the malignant process can begin when the body is susceptible to oncoviruses.

Symptoms

The insidiousness of kidney cancer lies in the asymptomatic course of the disease. Symptoms may be absent until the very last stages of oncology. As a rule, the malignant formation is diagnosed accidentally, for example, during a routine ultrasound. However, even despite the satisfactory general condition of the patient, the disease can be suspected by the following signs:

  • increased blood pressure;
  • weight loss, exhaustion;
  • fever;
  • protein metabolism disorder;
  • neuropathy;
  • liver dysfunction;
  • changes in blood composition — anemia, increased ESR, polycythemia, hypercalcemia.

German doctors recommend regular check-ups and seeking clinic help at the slightest complaints. Only in this case is it possible to diagnose the pathology in time and increase the effectiveness of treatment.

In some cases, a blurred clinical picture is observed. Specialists recommend paying attention to possible symptoms. The first thing to pay attention to is pain. At first, it is not constant and not intense. Mainly, unpleasant sensations appear at the level of the lumbar region, as well as in the peritoneum area. Over time, the pain intensifies and begins to resemble renal colic.

Characteristic Signs of Kidney Cancer:

  • Change in urine color — it becomes dark, blood inclusions are possible. This indicates that the renal glomerulus is affected;
  • Appearance of edema — especially on the feet and face.
  • Intoxication symptom — nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite.

Over time, the condition usually worsens — rapid fatigue, drowsiness, and decreased performance appear. Regional lymph nodes also enlarge, but this sign can only be determined by an experienced doctor.

Unfortunately, kidney cancer is also diagnosed in childhood. In children, oncology may be accompanied by a dense, bulging abdomen, as well as pain and blood in the urine.

Diagnostic Measures

Diagnosis of any disease is one of the most important stages on which the effectiveness of treatment depends. In a good German clinic, the examination begins with an initial examination by specialists — nephrologist, therapist, urologist, oncologist. Then the patient must undergo laboratory diagnostics — blood tests (general and biochemical) and urine tests. After which instrumental examination is prescribed:

  • Ultrasound of paired organs, bladder, retroperitoneal space;
  • angiography
  • excretory urography
  • MRI and CT

After the patient passes all tests and undergoes the necessary examination, doctors determine the tactics and begin to treat kidney cancer. Germany practices both conservative and surgical therapy for this pathology.

Important! The earlier treatment begins, the less extensive the surgical intervention will be and the more successful the recovery. However, in the case of kidney oncology, it is not possible to do without surgery.

Kidney Cancer Treatment Methods in Germany

When the oncological diagnosis is confirmed, specialists begin treatment. As a rule, comprehensive therapy is carried out in German clinics. This allows not only to defeat the disease, but also to reduce the risks of complications and relapses.

The drug treatment method involves the use of medications whose action is aimed at slowing the development of pathology and preventing further cell mutations. The medications used in treatment have few side effects.

Immunotherapy is indicated for patients to increase immune status, which helps to better tolerate chemotherapy. Medications are often prescribed in tablet form, but sometimes injections are used.

The surgical treatment method is almost always necessary. If the tumor size is no more than 4 cm, kidney resection is performed (only the altered tissue is removed, while the organ itself remains intact). If the neoplasm is large or has a complex structure, nephrectomy is performed — an operation for complete removal of the organ.

Treatment Cost in German Clinics

The cost of kidney cancer treatment in Germany consists of several factors. It is important to determine whether one or both paired organs are affected, the degree of metastasis spread, what type of operation will be performed, etc.

Diagnostic and therapeutic programs are selected individually for each patient. The exact amount can only be determined after consultation with specialists and all necessary tests. In any case, the cost of kidney cancer therapy in Germany will be 15-25% cheaper than in the United States with the same high quality of service.

Which Clinics in Germany Treat Kidney Cancer

It is quite difficult to choose a clinic on your own. It is practically impossible to collect reliable information and study the statistics of cases with positive treatment results for this type of oncology. Such data is simply not publicly available. To avoid all these difficulties, it is better to contact a specialized company that deals with the selection of clinics in Germany for cancer patients.

Preliminarily, it is necessary to collect information about the qualifications of the following specialists:

  • urologist surgeon — specializes in diseases of the urinary system;
  • medical oncologist — will treat the disease with chemotherapy and medications;
  • radiation oncologist — performs radiation therapy.

Many patients with kidney cancer prefer to be treated in Germany. This is due to the fact that German clinics have highly qualified doctors, extensive clinical experience, and extremely accurate diagnostics. Specialists use a wide range of antitumor methods in practice and try to find an individual approach in each specific case. Germany has high standards of medical care, along with an optimal combination of price and treatment quality.
