Knee Joint Treatment in Germany

knee pain

In an upright position, the maximum body weight falls on the knee joint, so it is most susceptible to injuries and diseases. Knee arthrosis (gonarthrosis) — is the most common joint pathology, which occurs in 10% of young and middle-aged people, and after 60 years, problems develop in every third person.

Causes of Joint Pathology

  • Injuries: ligament tears, meniscus damage, intra-articular fractures of the shin bones.
  • Excessive physical activity: heavy work, sports without proper exercise technique.
  • Excess weight.
  • Heredity: genetically determined weakness of knee ligaments.
  • Metabolic disorders and some endocrine diseases.

How is the Knee Joint Treated in Germany?

German orthopedic traumatologists provide comprehensive medical care for gonarthrosis, arthritis, bursitis and tendinitis, injuries to the cartilage and ligamentous apparatus of the knee joint.

Conservative Method

When diagnosing the problem at an early stage, doctors manage without surgical intervention. Drug therapy with chondroprotectors, steroid hormones, drugs that replace natural synovial fluid is used. In Germany, intra-articular administration of certified and safe compounds based on hyaluronic acid is practiced — ViscoPlus, Synocrom, Hyalrepair, Ostenil, as well as synthetic viscoprosthesis Noltrex.

Artificial synovial fluid substitutes eliminate friction of knee cartilage surfaces, provide cushioning

effect, relieve pain and inflammation. They are completely biocompatible and do not cause allergic reactions. This method allows restoring range of motion, giving the patient the opportunity for a full and active life.

An important component of treatment — is physiotherapy, which is used to accelerate rehabilitation and enhance the effect of medications. Orthoses and ergonomic footwear are used in orthopedics to minimize the load on the knee joints.

Surgical Method

knee surgery

In case of third-stage arthrosis, surgical intervention is indicated. The main method — is partial or total joint replacement to restore mobility. German orthopedists individually select prostheses based on MRI diagnostic data. Structures from leading world manufacturers with a service life of 15-20 years are used for joint replacement.

New techniques for joint replacement in Germany exclude muscle dissection: access is performed by spreading tissues, so there is no damage to vessels and nerves. A small incision of 3.5 cm allows making blood loss minimal, tissues recover quickly after surgery.

In addition to joint replacement, arthrodesis, arthrorise, arthrotomy are used. Surgical methods are also used for cruciate ligament rupture, old and improperly healed fractures, curvature of the shin bones and associated impaired knee biomechanics.

Minimally Invasive Methods

As an alternative to classical surgical interventions for knee joint treatment in Germany, arthroscopic technologies are used:

  1. Meniscus operations. During knee arthroscopy, suturing of the damaged meniscus, partial resection of destroyed tissues is possible.
  2. Cartilage microfracturing. For severe cartilage tissue damage, processing of defect edges and perforation of the underlying bone is performed to stimulate regeneration and formation of fibrous cartilage.
  3. Ligament reconstruction. Arthroscopic operations on cruciate ligaments are performed with preservation of own connective tissue fibers or with the use of a transplant to restore the anatomy of the knee joint.
  4. Cartilage cell transplantation. The technique allows replenishing cartilage defects in the knee and avoiding joint replacement. For transplantation, the patient's own chondrocytes, cultivated in the laboratory to the required amount, are used.

MIBRAR Regenerative Method

For knee treatment in Germany, the regenerative medicine method MIBRAR is used — introduction of autoconcentrate for regenerative joint reconstruction. The technique is based on the body's ability to independently restore damaged tissues. Its feature — is natural regeneration and elimination of the root cause of pathology, so MIBRAR completely relieves a person from the disease, not just eliminates the symptoms.

The minimally invasive intervention is performed under the control of arthroscopic or arthrosonographic equipment. General anesthesia is not used during the procedure. MIBRAR is performed without incisions and has no side effects.
