Coxarthrosis Treatment in Germany

Coxarthrosis — is a type of arthrosis affecting the hip joint. This is a disease caused by metabolic disorders. It develops gradually and is accompanied by sharp pains. In advanced cases, the pathology can lead to loss of mobility and disability. Coxarthrosis treatment in Germany — is a chance to restore health and forget about
 joint problems.

Causes and Signs of Pathology

Deforming arthrosis of the hip joint is diagnosed quite often, and women over 40 are more susceptible to the pathology. This is due to high load on the joint and the prevalence of congenital pathology — dysplasia.

The exact cause of coxarthrosis is not always possible to establish. In this case, we speak of primary (idiopathic) disease. Secondary coxarthrosis — is a pathology caused by one provoking factor or a group. These can be past injuries — dislocations, fractures, congenital anomalies, infectious processes in joint tissues.

The risk group for hip joint arthrosis includes:

  • older age group patients;
  • athletes;
  • people leading a sedentary lifestyle;
  • patients with flat feet, scoliosis;
  • individuals with metabolic or circulatory disorders, hormonal imbalances.

Normally, the joint is surrounded by a smooth capsule. Synovial fluid acts as a lubricant and provides cartilage nutrition. The joint is moved by muscles. Cartilage ensures bone gliding and protects against injuries.

In coxarthrosis, the composition of synovial fluid changes. It becomes viscous. The capsule surface dries out and becomes covered with cracks. Cartilage tissue thins, and bones deform.

Coxarthrosis — is a degenerative-dystrophic slowly progressing pathology. In its development, it goes through three consecutive stages with their characteristic symptoms. The degree of disease directly affects the choice of coxarthrosis treatment tactics in Germany.

  1. First stage. The patient's condition is satisfactory. They complain of episodic pain after exertion — prolonged walking or running. Discomfort passes on its own at rest. Gait is not disturbed, there is no muscle tissue atrophy.
  2. Second stage. Pain bothers even at rest. It radiates from the hip joint to the groin or knee. After exertion, the patient limps. Mobility is limited. Unpleasant sensations when abducting the hip are likely.
  3. Third stage. Pain intensifies and becomes constant. The patient is forced to move with a cane. Abductor muscles weaken. Hip joint mobility is significantly limited. The body's center of gravity shifts, which increases the load on the affected area.
Coxarthrosis disease stages

In early stages, doctors in German clinics prefer conservative or minimally invasive treatment methods. Surgical operations are performed by German specialists only in advanced cases.

Diagnostic Methods

The doctor's task — is to thoroughly study the patient's medical history, conduct
 additional examinations and determine therapy tactics based on the data obtained. Coxarthrosis treatment in Germany begins with interview and examination. The clinic specialist listens to complaints, assesses visual changes in the hip joint, if any.

Modern instrumental diagnostic methods are used to accurately determine the stage of pathology and lesion foci. German clinics prefer:

  • radiography;
  • magnetic resonance imaging;
  • computed tomography;
  • ultrasound examinations.

Synovial fluid puncture with further biopsy examination is performed as indicated. General clinical blood and urine tests are prescribed to assess the general condition. They can be taken directly at the clinic.

Main Therapy Methods

Coxarthrosis treatment in German clinics gives a chance for complete recovery. General schemes are not used here. The method and duration of therapy are selected individually for each patient depending on diagnostic results. Effectiveness will be higher if measures are taken in time. Do not delay coxarthrosis treatment. It is better to contact the clinic at the first symptoms.

Drug Therapy

Medications in German clinics are used as part of comprehensive therapy if the patient is bothered by severe pain. Coxarthrosis treatment involves taking medications of different pharmacological groups:

  1. Chondroprotectors. Used to restore cartilage tissue.
  2. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Suppress inflammation and relieve painful sensations.
  3. Muscle relaxants. Relax muscles around the affected joint.
  4. Vasodilators. Restore blood circulation.

Medications will not restore the joint, so they are used as a temporary or additional measure. The main focus in German clinics is not on eliminating symptoms, but on getting rid of the causes of pain.

Minimally Invasive Methods

MRI diagnostics

The main method of coxarthrosis treatment in Germany — is arthroscopy. The method involves minimal surgical intervention. The patient is placed in the clinic inpatient and remains under observation for another 2-3 days.

The operation lasts no more than 90 minutes. The doctor makes 2-4 small incisions on the thigh surface (1 cm each). Access to the affected area is carried out through them. All manipulations are performed under endoscope control. The camera is inserted through one of the incisions and transmits the image to the monitor.

Coxarthrosis treatment by arthroscopy allows:

  • restore cartilage tissue;
  • remove bone growths;
  • ensure joint mobility;
  • eliminate pain.

During arthroscopy in German clinics, the patient may have artificially grown cartilage tissue transplanted. An alternative recovery option — is the introduction of stem cells into the synovial fluid. These methods stop destructive processes in the hip joint and allow avoiding full surgical intervention.

Cartilage tissue transplantation is performed in two stages — diagnostic arthroscopy and direct cell collection for further cultivation. This is a labor-intensive procedure with high risks for the patient. Cells do not always take root, and the quality of cartilage may turn out unsatisfactory.

After implantation, the patient needs a special regimen. The joint is completely immobilized for 6 weeks. Then dosed loads are allowed, but a support must be used when walking. You can refuse it after 3 months.

Innovative Technologies

MRI diagnostics

Coxarthrosis treatment in Germany is possible using the latest MIBRAR technology. This is a minimally invasive technique involving natural regeneration of damaged areas by introducing autologous lipogenic concentrate ALK® obtained from adipose tissue cells and concentrate from blood plasma AHK® containing growth factors.

MIBRAR method advantages:

  • minimal surgical intervention;
  • treatment without anesthesia;
  • no rehabilitation period.

Control diagnostics using radiography or MRI can be performed after 2-4 months. The images will show that joint elements have recovered and destructive changes have slowed down.

Joint Replacement

In Germany, surgical intervention is used only as a last resort for severe mechanical tissue damage when conservative and minimally invasive methods are ineffective. Hip joint replacement surgery — is one of the most successful procedures in German clinics over the past 10 years.

High-quality prostheses made of various materials are used in Germany — plastic, ceramics, metal. Their service life — is 15-20 years. Cemented or cementless fixation is possible. Clinics perform total or partial joint replacement operations. The final decision is made by the doctor after comprehensive diagnostics.

Rehabilitation of Hip Arthrosis Patients

In Germany, a rehabilitation course can be completed in specialized centers, where an individual recovery program is selected for each patient.

Germany provides comprehensive recovery, allowing to rehabilitate in the shortest time after intervention, restore mobility and protect against disease recurrence. Non-drug methods are a priority. German clinics prefer the following methods:

  • laser, magnetic field, ultraviolet exposure;
  • acupuncture;
  • various types of massage;
  • reflexology;
  • physical therapy;
  • functional training;
  • muscle electrical stimulation;
  • GYROTONIC system classes;
  • pool sessions;
  • balneotherapy;
  • mud therapy.

Rehabilitation procedures are aimed at improving blood circulation, relieving muscle spasms, eliminating swelling and pain, accelerating cartilage tissue regeneration, even distribution of load on joints. In German clinics, each patient is selected an individual recovery program after coxarthrosis.

Cost

The final price depends on several factors. The cost of treatment is affected by:

  • chosen therapy method;
  • preliminary diagnostic stages;
  • duration of stay at the clinic inpatient;
  • rehabilitation measures;
  • medication costs.
