Prof. honey. Thor Zantop is an internationally recognized specialist in arthroscopic knee surgery. His intensive scientific work provides the basis for the most advanced surgical care for patients with anterior and posterior cruciate ligament injuries, meniscus problems and degenerative knee injuries.
After training at the University of Pittsburgh Sports Medicine Center and the University Hospital Muenster, he specialized in the surgical and conservative treatment of athletes. As a former athlete in the German handball league, his main clinical activity here, in addition to caring for professional athletes, is caring for recreational and recreational athletes.
After making a diagnosis, patient-centered surgical technique and monitoring early rehabilitation, Professor Zantop performs a post-operative movement analysis to check the return to sporting activity and prevent further injury. The "return to play" concept he founded. In the meantime, I have found many imitators throughout Germany, who, however, cannot come close to the experience of postoperative analysis of movements in sporthopaedicum.
Since 2013, Professor Zantop has been included in the FOCUS list of doctors as a specialist in knee surgery.
Since 2018, he has headed Germany's first center for pediatric knee surgery, endoprosthetics and sports orthopedics of the German Knee Society at Sporthopädicum Straubing. Professor Zantop has been a visiting professor at Danube University Krems since 2021. Prof. Zantop trains physiotherapists for the German Olympic Sports Confederation.
Since 2021, Professor Zantop has been recognized as an expert in the fields of knee surgery, sports orthopedics and sports medicine.
